Process Guide Measure

Phase II. Measure

Purpose:
This step is to measure the present level of selected CTQ to set up Base line, and is to select the improvement target and object of CTQ.

Activity STEP:
Step 4. Set up the plan of data collection -> Sampling plus factor, Setup of measuring plan, Inspection of measuring system
Step 5. Grasp of existing level -> Collection of Data, Grasp of existing level, Improvement object

Output:
Step 4. List of plus factor : Cause and Effect Diagram, or Logic Tree, Plan of measurement, Gage R&R
Step 5. Analysis result of process capability, Control chart : X_Bar R Chart or I Chart

Step 4 – Selection of plus factor
Purpose:
This step is to select plus factors for efficient measurement of CTQ, to set up the plan of it, and to inspect the reliability of system to be measured.

Process Purpose Activity Tool
 Select
plus factor
 • To select plus factor for
efficient measurement of
CTQ
 - To select plus factor
- To review the factor-relation
  of Y and X’s
- To define standard measurement
 - Cause and effect diagram
- Logic Tree
- X-Y Matrix
 Set up
measuring
plan
 • To set up hypothesis on
measuring target,
and its measuring plan
 - To set up measuring plan
 Inspect
measuring
system
 • To inspect reliability of
system to be measured
 - Gage R&R  - Gage R&R

Step 5 – Measure Present Level
Purpose:
This step is to output process capability index, to structure existing Base Line, and to set up improvement object of CTQ.

Process Purpose Activity Tool
Collect
data
• To collect data
based on measurement plan
- To collect data - Sampling
Measure
the present
level
• To structure existing
Base Line outputting
Z of Y
- Measure Z Level - Process capability
